fundraising for Boston Children's - virtually

Explore ways to stay busy or brighten someone's day with ideas below.

Performance or dance recital

Have a performance that’s been postponed? In lieu of buying tickets, ask friends and family to donate to your fundraising efforts and, in return, send them a video of your performance!

Virtual fitness class

Livestream a workout class (yoga, Zumba, etc.) and ask attendees to donate $5 or $10 in exchange for participating.

Free throw competition

Livestream a basketball competition and ask your network to pledge a dollar amount for every shot make (in your driveway or with your indoor trash can basketball hoop). The harder the shot, the higher the donation amount!

For tips on livestreaming, reach out to us at events@chtrust.org

Birthday fundraiser

Take your birthday party virtual by creating a birthday fundraiser through Facebook in lieu of gifts. Set up your fundraiser through our Fundraise Your Way website to be able to direct funds to an area of the hospital you care about.

Game night

Come together virtually as a family or bring together a group of friends for a game night, and ask people to sponsor your gaming by donating essential funds for Boston Children’s Hospital.

Read-a-thon

Encourage people to sponsor you in a read-a-thon! For every hour read or each book finished, friends and family can donate to your online fundraising page. This idea is teacher-approved!

Social distance challenge

Take a photo or create a video showing how you’re staying six feet away from others (i.e. Lego wall, pillow fort, cup and string walkie-talkie, etc.) and challenge your social network to do the same. Donate $6 for six feet and encourage others to do so too.

Practice Positivity: Send love notes to loved ones

In an effort to spread positivity, ask for donations of $5 and in return, the donor will receive or choose another person to receive a handwritten note of positivity. The recipient can then choose to pay it forward by donating $5 to have another note sent to someone they love.

“Office” competition

Instead of a traditional dress down day, ask your company or manager if you can hold a funny costume or silly background contest during virtual meetings. Ask participants for a small donation to “enter” and encourage voting. Virtual prizes encouraged!

Car wash

Ask neighbors to park their car in your driveway or take your car wash supplies on the go! Walk to your neighbor’s house and wash their car for a small donation.

Yard sale prep

Use this time to organize, prep, and sort through items for an amazing yard sale this summer. Post about items you have online ahead of time to build excitement among your neighbors for the day of the sale!

Rivalry school competition

Feed your competitive spirit while spring sports are suspended! Set up a fundraising competition between your school’s athletic department with a rival school’s athletic department! The town to raise the most before everyone returns to school is the winner!

Movie night

Get the popcorn ready! Come together virtually with family or friends for a movie night. Ask each movie viewer to donate what they’d normally spend on a movie ticket (or more) to support the patients and families at Boston Children’s.
