Over the past decade, I’ve been fortunate enough to watch my family grow from a party of five to a party of fourteen. Dinners with just my parents and two older brothers slowly transitioned into “little friends” (as my mother calls one’s significant other) joining the table. Next thing you know, we’ve added two labradoodles and a French bulldog into the mix, and then finally, the best part, my three nephews and niece.
Amongst our party of fourteen, there’s one tiny human that is the strongest of us all. It is my three year old nephew, Quinn Daniel Biscoe. Q was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect - double outlet right ventricle while in the womb at 20 weeks. The doctors told Tim and Jenna that over the next few years, Quinn would have to undertake 3 staged open heart surgeries.
Quinn had his first OH surgery three days after he was born at Boston Children’s Hospital in October of ’21. Five months later, his second open heart surgery took place, and due to some post-op lymphatic complications, he ended up staying at BCH for nearly 60 days. During both of these surgeries, Tim, Jenna and Quinn watched the Boston Marathon from the confines of Children’s.
My brother, Tim, was determined that in April of 2023, Quinn would watch his dad complete the marathon on Boylston and not in the hospital. 26.2 miles later and nearly $30k raised for Boston Children’s, Tim had accomplished his goal.
Fast forward to February 2024, Q completed his third and final open heart surgery. He is now living his life as any normal three year old should- endless amounts of playtime, notorious reruns of Toy Story, and lots of cuddles with his loved ones.
And this is all because of Boston Children’s Hospital. Our family is so thankful for their pediatric cardiology team. They truly are miracle workers.
So with that being said, I am excited to announce that in April of 2025, Quinn will once again watch the Boston Marathon on Boylston Street, but this time it’s not just Dad running- his Auntie Ellie and Uncle Dan are joining in on the fun too!
Running the Boston Marathon has been #1 on my bucket list since I was in high school, but being able to run it with my two older brothers for Miles for Miracles, an organization that means so much to my family, makes it a million times better.
$12,000 is the goal for myself so any and all donations are VERY much appreciated! It’s going to be quite a fun (and competitive) training season with Tim and Dan. Thank you everyone and LFGGGG!!!
