I have joined the Miles for Miracles team to run in loving memory of my heart warrior grandson, Xavier Davis. Zay’s life was our family’s miracle. He was a source of light and smiles to family, friends, and all the hospital staff who knew him—his Boston Children’s family. Zay had 18 months with all who loved him, because of his amazing Mama and the cutting edge and compassionate care he received at Boston Children’s Hospital. Zay was a warrior. He fought hard with a smile on his face. He was my hero. Zay passed away on September 8, 2024, but you can help his memory, his light, and his impact still live on.
Your donation will help support other warriors just like our Zay Zay, and their families, in so so many ways.
- Zay had serious and complex heart defects. Your funds will help support research and specialized care for children like him, who would not have a chance at life without it.
- Zay was in the hospital for many months, as many patients with complex medical conditions are. Your funds will help support programs that help enrich children’s lives while in the hospital—like music therapy (which Zay LOVED) and art therapy. Child Life Services provided toys and books to further Zay’s development, as well as celebrated holidays and major milestones. Kids can be kids while in the hospital.
- We were able to take advantage of Patient and Family Housing throughout Zay’s time in the hospital as well as when Zay was traveling to Boston from Maine for appointments. Your funds will help patients and families secure low cost housing in an expensive city.
- We received meal and parking vouchers throughout Zay’s hospital stays. Your funds will help families like ours with programs to help offset some of the costs of a long term hospital stay.
With your funds, Zay’s story will continue to have an impact and make a real difference in the lives of other children and their families. With your funds, we can support families and help them be “Zay Strong.”
