I've joined the Miles for Miracles team to help the brave kids at Boston Children's Hospital.
I started working at Boston Children's Hospital in 1983. For the past 31 years, I have worked in the Epilepsy program. During this time, I have had the privilege of working with patients and families affected by this debilitating illness. I have seen tremendous advances in the treatment of epilepsy and every day the researchers, physicians, and nurses continue to work towards a cure for epilepsy. As a nurse, I have seen the heartbreak that families endure, as well as the hope they carry with them every day as we continue to work towards a cure for their child.
On a personal note, my son Tim was diagnosed with infantile spasms at 6 weeks of age. This is one of the most challenging epilepsy syndromes that we see in the pediatric population. I was fortunate to live in the Boston area, so that Tim was able to receive the extraordinary care that he did at Boston Children's Hospital. Whether it was in the emergency department, the neuroscience unit, or one of the ICUs, all of the care from all of the providers was exceptional. Today, Tim thrives in the community and recently ran his first Marathon in Detroit with me. I can't thank Boston Children's Hospital enough for all they've done and continue to do for children like my son Tim.
Please support my fundraising and help the incredible kids and families at Boston Children's Hospital.
