I am honored to share that I will be running the 2019 Boston Marathon on the Credit Unions Kids @ Heart team for Boston Children's Hospital again! This will be my third time running and second year in a row, running for Timmy. I am elated to be apart team of this team once again.
As I reflect back on the training and fundraising over the years, the number one question that is previlent; Why are running again? Here are the reasons that stand out most.
The most obvious reason, Timmy and BCH pull at my heart strings. I have met and made so many wonderful lifelong friends these past several years with the patients and their families, and of course the runners on our team.
Secondly, this foundation is selfless. Credit Unions Kids at Heart is one of the only charities where all of the money raised goes to directly to the doctor's relentless efforts to find cures for Moyamoya Syndrome, Cerebral palsy, Pediatric Brain Cancer, Sturge webber, and Epilepsy. It is truly remarkable!
Third, I am able to set an example for my loved ones, my husband, and especially my children, Rease and Broch. It is one small way of giving back to a cause so much greater than my own being. Seeing this journey through their eyes fills me with overwhelming joy, pride and inspiration.
Last but not least, the Boston Marathon symbolizes countless amazing things. For me, it has given me strength and hope to overcome life's challanges. Above all, it has showed me what human courage really is, and that is why I run and fundraise for Boston Children's Hospital.
