Trying to find the right words to show my appreciation for Boston Children’s Hospital is difficult to say the least; so I will start with this... Boston Children’s Hospital has saved my sisters life.
My sister Caitlin and I were born conjoined twins. It wasn’t until my mother was several months pregnant that the doctors realized we were conjoined and that my sister had a bad heart. My parents decided to have us separated right after we were born to ensure that we both received the best care. However, doctors believed my sister would not survive. With a team of over 50 doctors and nurses and after several hours of surgery, the separation was a success.
Throughout the years Caitlin has had to undergo several open heart surgeries as well as dozens of other surgeries. Most recently in 2005 she suffered a stroke causing neurological deficits and paralysis of her left hand. Children’s Hospital and most importantly her Cardiologist Dr Triedman, are the reason she is still with us today.
Children’s Hospital has been part of my life since the day I was born. Over the years Caitlin has required lots of appointments and stays both long and short. My family and I are forever grateful to all the amazing doctors, nurses and staff that have helped us over the last 33 years.
I am beyond grateful to have the opportunity to give back to such an amazing hospital. Being a mother of 2 small children, and knowing what children’s hospital can do for any sick child, provides me with comfort if I ever needed them.
I am running this race for my sister Caitlin and for all the children fighting for their lives. By donating, you can help turn every mile into a miracle for the children of Boston. Thank you so much for your love and Support!
