I've joined the Miles for Miracles team because Boston Children's Hospital saved my daughter's life.
Georgia Claire Bowen was unexpectedly born in cardiac arrest on May 18th 2018. Boston Children's Hospital pooled every resource they have, her medical team worked tirelessly. They never gave up hope that Georgia would not only survive, but thrive.
Georgia was put on life support at the hospital she was born at, 14 hours after birth. Boston Children's Hospital became aware of Georgia's critical condition and formed a team of 14 doctors, nurses, and respitory therapists to pick her up in a mobile ICU and transport her to BCH, where they immediately performed a life saving surgical procedure at 2AM. BCH brought us HOPE when they walked into Georgia's life, and worked tirelessly until they watched her walk out of their doors six months later. During her six month hospitalization Georgia, endured over 12 cardiac catherization procedures, two open heart surgeries on the heart and lung bypass machine (including a heart transplant), she sustained a large left sided stroke, a fungal infection, a bacterial blood stream infection, necrosis of the bowel, a subclavian right arterial clot. Never once did her team doubt her, or their ability to deliver a beautiful healthy baby girl to our family who will live a happy life.
We know how fortunate we are as a family to be WHOLE today, and we know we couldn't have done it anywhere else in the world. Boston Children's Hospital performs miracles every single day, I am honored to be on their miles for miracles team. Please consider supporting Georgia, my family, and the work of Boston Children's Hospital.
With Gratitude & Love,
(Very proud Mama Bear to Georgia Claire Bowen - Our MIRACLE)
