This will be my third marathon with Boston Children's Hospital's Miles for Miracles team. This time, we are headed west to the windy city of Chicago! I, of course, will be running again for my patient partner and dear friend, Peter.
For those of you who aren't familiar with Peter, the hospital paired me up with him back in 2017 when I was training for my first marathon with the team. He and his family have become like family to me over the years, and I couldn't imagine doing this without them.
Peter has down syndrome, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, and slight hearing loss. A few days after birth he was diagnosed with a hepatic portal venous fistula, causing heart failure, but thankfully this was corrected. He loves to swim, read, do puzzles, hike, and play make believe, and is looking forward to starting 3rd grade in September.
Peter is an active patient at Boston Children's and sees doctors in otolaryngology, audiology, endocrinology, and ophthalmology. Please support my run for this incredible hospital who has shown so much love for my buddy and let's crush another goal together! See ya on the road.
