Dear Family & Friends,
I’m running the Boston Marathon in honor of a special person in my life, Mae Tapley. I ran the marathon four years ago in honor of Mae’s first birthday, this year Mae turns five years old on Marathon Monday! To celebrate Mae and the place that’s made a huge impact on so many lives, we’re raising money for the Down Syndrome Clinic at Boston Children’s Hospital! Specifically for Maes Market, a physical store that is being built into the new Develoopmental Medicine Center. It will provide free therapeutic, developmental and educational tools for all patient families.
Boston Children’s Hospital holds a special place in my heart. I’m grateful for the years I worked at the hospital, I met amazing people and forged lifelong connections. When Mae was born and Susie and Andrew moved from Washington, DC to Boston so Mae could have open heart surgery, I experienced the hospital through another lense. I had the chance to see from a different vantage point just how extraordinary the team of surgeons, doctors, nurses and support staff are. The caregivers at BCH are heroes, they’re selfless, kind, smart and compassionate. Children’s saved Mae’s life twice, they detected her heart defect when no one else did and they operated with care and precision to repair her heart. Children’s continues to improve Mae’s life and offer transformative support to her family and countless other families.
Mae is pure joy, anyone who meets her is drawn in by her infectious smile, giggle and spirit. She reminds us what’s important in life. She’s joyful, lives each day to the fullest, fiercely loves her family and works hard to overcome obstacles that come her way.
I appreciate your consideration of a gift to support the Down Syndrome Clinic at Boston Children’s Hospital! Gifts of any and all sizes are greatly appreciated!
