Moving Forward One Step at a Time
The first email I saw the morning after my husband, Jim, passed away was one inviting me to apply to run the 2020 Boston Marathon with Miles for Miracles. Why not, I thought...
Jim had been diagnosed with the same type of brain tumor that we had lost our little grandson, Shane, to just three years earlier. Shane had spent half his short life at Boston Children's Hospital, a place that will always be near and dear to our hearts. Thoughts of little Shane were constantly on my mind as I spent the summer months caring for Jim; so ironic that the same disease took both of them at opposite ends of the age spectrum. Running has always been a great stress reliever for me, and I was going to need something to help me through the grief process that I knew was just beginning...
So, I applied and as life would have it, I found out I made the team the same day my mom was admitted to the ICU. Sadly, she passed away the next day, just six weeks after Jim. Wow, now how to continue moving forward after yet another significant loss in my life? More than ever I was so thankful I had something positive to look forward to as I entered this new and very overwhelming chapter of my life.
I am delighted and very grateful to be on the team along with my daughter, Mary Montague Tremper! I'm looking forward to this journey together and am so happy that we'll be able to help give hope to children and families at Boston Children's. Moving forward one step at a time while giving back to help others - it's what's going to keep me going for the next few months!
We appreciate your donation and THANK YOU for supporting us on our journey!
With love and hugs,
