Hi, I'm Emma! I'm a part of Boston Children's Hospital Miles for Miracles Team as a Patient Partner. I have received care from great people at Children's over the years, including a life-saving operation when I was first born. Now that I'm older and have realized my luck of being at Children's, I want to give back. I want to help support Children's so other kids will also have the opportunity to receive such great care.
Going through many tests and medical procedures is plenty scary, but especially when you're a kid. The doctors, nurses, and members of the Child Life Specialists team made my visits and stays at Children's less scary. They managed to find ways to cheer me up and make me feel safe. I'm especially grateful to the nurses who have helped with my IVs over the years. I hate getting them, but they made it bearable! I know my parents could rest easy knowing I was in such good hands during difficult times.
Children's Miles for Miracles Team matches volunteer Runners with Patient Partners for the Boston Marathon. This way patients, former patients, and anyone who wants to help can pitch in to give back to Children's. I've been fortunate to be partnered with Karla. I'll be volunteering to give out water at practice runs and cheering Karla on during the marathon. Karla's father has an amazing history with Children's. You can read about it in the link below. You can also donate on Karla's Miles for Miracles page to help us help Children's.
Thank you for taking the time to read my page and for giving any support you can to the Miles for Miracles Team, either through my page or Karla's. Karla is working hard on training and has a big fundraising goal, so donating directly through her page is a really great way to help.
From me and all of the other kids that have received care at Children's, Thank you! Emma
