As a former Boston Children’s Hospital patient, I am honored and excited to run the 2020 Boston Marathon on behalf of my patient partner Sammy, his family, the Credit Union Kids at Heart Team and the Miles for Miracles Team.
Sammy was diagnosed with Cornelia de Lange Syndrome. It is a rare genetic syndrome that causes physical, cognitive, and medical challenges. Sammy is also missing forearms, suffers from seizures, GERD, hearing loss, vision problems, developmental delays, and multiple other issues. Because of the care he has received from the wonderful doctors and nurses at Boston Children’s Hospital, Sammy’s family is proud of the milestones he has achieved.
Breakthroughs made at Boston Children’s Hospital in pediatric neurology and pediatric brain cancer are shared with other hospitals across the US. Many lives like Sammy’s benefit from this research every day. But research costs money and without donations, that research would cease. All donations are greatly appreciated and 100% of the money raised goes directly toward research.
On behalf of Sammy and all the kids receiving care at Boston Children’s Hospital, thank you from the bottom of my heart!
