I am excited to be joining the 2022 Boston Miles for Miracles Marathon team for the first time! 2022 Boston Marathon will be my first marathon. I am honored to be a part of this team as I believe so strongly in all the amazing things Boston Children's Hospital does for kids. And the hospital doesn't just stop there. Boston Children's really understands the importance of training the next generation of top pediatricians and nurses, so they can continue to provide the best, most innovative care possible to kids.
As a teacher the past 2 years have been hard. I have always wanted to support and help children and people in need. This past year I joined the board of directors for the non - profit called Dancers At Heart. Our mission statement is simple: "We can all shine bright on stage but shining bright in life by helping and lifting others up is where we can all make an everlasting difference. Dancers at Heart is committed to raising funds that benefit the health and wellness of those in need while fostering kindness and support." This journey has so much meaning for me. Last year I had the great pleasure of meeting and getting to know a fantastic young lady named Kylie Patten. Kylie is a student at Melissa Hoffman Dance Studio where my daughter has been dancing for almost 10 years. At the age of 8, Kylie was diagnosed with a brain tumor in February/March of 2021. In May 2021, after a grueling 7-hour surgery, the tumor was successfully removed by the amazing team at Boston Children Hospital. Kylie was then released from the hospital and recovered at home with her family. Although some challenges still lie ahead for Kylie, she's ready to tackle them head on. Kylie is a strong girl with a passion for life.  She will be heart and mind every step of the way!
