Hi, my name is Elizabeth Elvin and I am a college freshman at Umass Amherst and a soon to be a Boston Marathon runner. Receiving the news that I would be able to run the Boston Marathon with the Boston Children's Hospital brought me to tears as I have dreamt of this opportunity for years. Combining running, a sport I love so very much, with the ability to help children in need of medical care combines two of my favorite things into one mission. I look forward to the Boston Children's Hospital running team and community that I will support and be a part of, as well as my patient partner that I will cheer on through the next few months. I will be training and finishing alongside my best friend Paulina, who lost her cousin Quinn to cancer. Every step that I take when running either in the mountains if Amherst Massachusetts, my college campus, or on Commmonwealth Ave in Boston will be motivated by the bravery of the children persevering at Boston Children's Hospital. I am beyond greatful for this opportunity to not only accomplish a dream of mine but also to help other families in my community. I will take care of the running and with your support we will cross the finish line on April 18th, 2022 impacting many other lives as well.
I've joined the Miles for Miracles team because I believe so strongly in all the amazing things Boston Children's Hospital does for kids:
- The hospital's patient care programs are unusually sensitive to what sick and injured children and their families really need.
- Researchers regularly make amazing discoveries that change children's lives.
- Boston Children's welcomes kids whose families can't afford health care--more than any other hospital in Massachusetts.
- Community programs makes a point of reaching out to help low-income and at-risk kids.
And the hospital doesn't just stop there. Boston Children's really understands the importance of training the next generation of top pediatricians and nurses, so they can continue to provide the best, most innovative care possible to kids.
