This coming April 15th I will be back to run the 128th Boston Marathon again for the Miles for Miracle team. Once again I will be teaming up with my favorite young and strongest warrior I know Charlotte Egan. After a great time last year with training, fundraising and learning a lot more about the Boston Children's Hospital we are looking forward to the challenge of improving on every aspect of it!
As many of you know, I am really getting to enjoy the long distance running and how much I talk about it, and doing it for such an amazing cause, and with the best patient partner one can ask, makes everything so much better and inspirational.
Charlotte was diagnosed in utero with diaphragmatic hernia. She was born with virtually no left lung and a small percentage of a right lung. Her parents were told that she had a less than 10% chance of survival at birth.
Charlotte underwent 15 surgeries and spent the better part of her first two years living in the ICU at Boston Children's Hospital. But thanks to her remarkable surgical team, and the care of all the doctors and nurses who treated her, today Charlotte is a happy, healthy 12 year old, who is loving 6th grade, loving her family and friends and enjoys playing lacrosse.
I am blessed to have Charlotte in my life, and honored to have joined this Partnership with her to help Boston Children's through your donations to continue their miraculous work by saving many lives and helping to bring smiles to many children and their families!
We would like to like to thank you all in advance for your generous support of our team and the Miles for Miracles team and being a part of this wonderful journey!
"Olgert, I wish you were my Grandpa!" - Charlotte, September 2017
Every dollar I raise funds the very best medical care, breakthrough research and vital support services for sick kids and their families. Your gift will:
- help children from your town and across the world get a second chance at life;
- give kids battling the most complex diseases care they can't find anywhere else;
- fuel 3,000+ researchers working to develop new treatments and cures;
- support patient programs, like music and art therapy, to let kids be kids, even during long hospital stays;
- help patient families in crisis with urgent needs, such as food, clothing and housing;
- deliver the most compassionate, leading-edge care to every child who needs it.
Please support my fundraising and help the incredible kids and families at Boston Children's Hospital.
