I am excited to announce that I have joined team Miles for Miracles to run the NYC Marathon and raise funds for Boston Children’s Hospital.
Last year, I had two first's in running… 1.) I finally ran a ½ marathon in under 90 mins. 2.) I completed my first full marathon in Columbus, OH. I always told myself, if you beat 90, then you have to run a full.
My marathon time last year, qualified me to run Chicago, Boston and NYC. So I figured, why not do them all! After gaining entry into Chicago, I applied to NYC. Even though my time qualified me to run, I did not get one of the coveted spots, I then waited for the random lottery and once again, did not get one of the spots. However, an even better scenario occurred... Miles for Miracles let me join their team to raise money for Children and run the marathon. What a perfect scenario, raise money for kids, honor the medical professionals who care for them and run the marathon.
This hits home, because I am married to a Pediatric ICU Doctor and have witnessed first-hand the sacrifices of PICU doctors. They care for the sickest children, often witnessing tragic accidents and human trauma. For them, this is a lifelong calling, from the 10-12 years of training, the crazy service weeks, and working many 24-hour shifts. The emotional toll can be taxing and challenging. However, the level of skill and care they provide are invaluable to help stabilize and save many lives. I can’t imagine a world without them, to help care for children in their most vulnerable state.
I come to you asking for your support. Anything you can spare, even a few dollars, will go a long way. Please help me raise money to benefit children and those who care for them.
Every dollar I raise funds breakthrough research, family supports, and vital services not covered by insurance through the hospital’s Every Child Fund. Your gift will:
- give children battling the most complex diseases treatments they can’t find anywhere else;
- fuel 3,000+ researchers working to find cures;
- help patient-families in crisis with urgent needs, including housing, food and clothing;
- bring crucial care to families through not 1, but 4 outpatient psychiatry clinics;
- and so much more.
Please support my fundraising—and the children and families at Boston Children’s and beyond.
