I've joined the Miles for Miracles for the TCS New York City Marathon because I am passionate about helping kids and their families at Boston Children’s Hospital find lifesaving care and support, like my family did.
When my younger sister (Emma) was just four days old, she received heart surgery at Boston Children's Hospital. The care and support Emma and our family received was unmatched, and they are the reason why Emma lives a happy, healthy life today. I am running not only for Emma, but for all the children and the families who have been affected by childhood illness.
I am also excited to share that I have a Patient Partner match for the marathon, Sean! Sean was born with a rare chromosome disorder called Pallister Killian Syndrome, and he is 1 of less than 1000 diagnosed cases in the world. After this diagnosis, Sean's family knew he had to be seen by some of the best doctors in the world, which is why they chose Boston Children's Hospital. With the additional diagnosis of epilepsy within the last two years, Sean's neuro team at BCH has, too, been there every step of the way. Although Sean faces these challenges, he is an absolute joy! Like many 7 year olds, Sean loves Mickey Mouse and Bluey, and anything to do with water! I am so excited to share my journey running my first marathon with Sean and his family.
I would greatly appreciate your support in helping me reach and exceed my fundraising goal, in order to help more and more children. Every dollar raised, funds breakthrough research, family support services, and vital care that may not be covered by all insurances. Donations have the power to give another child a second chance at life and help patient families get through some of the scariest moments of their lives.
I truly mean it when I say that no donation is too small. Any and all amounts of donations are meaningful and will impact a child's life. Again, I really appreciate you supporting me and my goal and cannot thank you enough for your generosity.
