I've joined the Miles for Miracles team for the TCS New York City Marathon because our family is fortunate to have had life saving care at Boston Children’s Hospital and I want other families to feel that same relief I feel every time I walk through the doors.
In 2016, at just 7 days old, my daughter Zoe was transferred to the cardiac ICU at BCH and was under the care of the best cardiologists in the world. I’ll never forget the feeling of relief after having an ICU full of doctors and nurses examining her for the first time and being assured that she was going to be okay, because her condition was something they dealt with all the time. She had surgery at 17 days old to correct a congenital heart defect and came home 5 days later. Today she’s a happy and healthy 2nd grader thanks to Dr Friedman, Dr Kaza, and Dr Brown at BCH. Zoe still receives care through the cardiac neurodevelopment program.
