Hello Family, Friends, and Colleagues,
On Sunday, November 3rd, I'll be running the New York City Marathon on behalf of Boston Children's Hospital (BCH) and would like to ask for your support. I've joined the Miles for Miracles team at BCH as my family is passionate about helping kids find lifesaving healthcare.
I'm also honored to be running on behalf of 8-year-old Caiden Scheer. Caiden was born with a congenital heart defect, pulmonary stenosis, and tricuspid regurgitation. In speaking with Gina Scheer, Caiden's mom, she highlighted that the BCH team "had a plan from the beginning and saved Caiden's life." Caiden continues to be monitored at BCH but presently lives his life like a normal 8-year-old. Caiden is a huge Boston Celtics fan and wants a dog!
I have found it incredibly motivating to have Caiden as my patient partner, especially when doing long runs in the high heat and humidity over the last few weeks. As a member of the Miles for Miracles team, I wear a yellow wristband on my runs that says "Stronger, Tougher, Braver". Even when running 14 miles in less-than-ideal conditions, I found myself thinking that this isn't hard compared to what Caiden has had to navigate in his life.
Every dollar raised for the Miles for Miracles program helps fund breakthrough research, family support services, and vital care through the hospital's Every Child Fund.
I would be grateful for any support that you could provide to help the children and families at Boston Children's Hospital.
Sincerely,
Sam
