At 14 years old, I collapsed at soccer practice while attending boarding school at St. Paul's School. I was diagnosed with Atrial Septal Defect (ASD), which meant I had a large hole in my heart.
The wall that separated the upper chambers of my heart was 90% dissipated and my heart had enlarged to a dangerous size. Following the diagnosis, Boston Children's Hospital successfully performed open heart surgery to close the hole in my heart.
Simply, Boston Children’s Hospital saved my life.
Because of Boston Children’s Hospital...
- I was strong, healthy, and driven to ride my bike 3,438 miles from Washington State to Maine with St. Paul’s School's cycling team.
- I lived to turn 18 years old and attend the University of New Hampshire where I become the captain of the Women's D1 Club Ice Hockey Team.
- I moved to Washington DC and received my Masters Degree in Security Studies at Georgetown’s School of Foreign Service.
- I am pursuing my passion in defense technology at Anduril Industries. My heart was even strong enough to fly 3.5 hours in a fighter jet (F-16).
- I am chasing my next life goal and running the NYC Marathon.
My minimum fundraising goal is $4,500, my stretch fundraising goal is $10,000!
Every dollar I raise funds breakthrough research, family support services, and vital care not covered by insurance through the hospital’s Every Child Fund. Your gift will:
- give children battling the most complex diseases treatments they can’t find anywhere else;
- help children in your town and across the world get a second chance;
- fuel 3,000+ researchers working to find cures;
- help patient-families in crisis with urgent needs, including housing, food and clothing;
- bring crucial care to families through outpatient psychiatry clinics;
- and so much more.
Please support my fundraising—and help the children and families at Boston Children’s and beyond.
