I'm so excited to have joined the Miles for Miracles for the TCS New York City Marathon because of the lifesaving care I received at Boston Children's and the chance to support others in accessing this same level of care.
I first became a patient of Boston Children's at ten months old when I was admitted to the ER almost in a coma from low blood sugar. It was suspected that I had a mild mitochondrial disorder, and over the next six years visited each department for system checks and visited the ER each time I was sick for care. Children's both provided excellent care and made the environment as positive for a child as a hospital can be. Upon arrival at the hospital, I was greeted with the large lobby Curious George and a ball machine, which made each visit just a little better.
There were times in my early childhood when doctors wondered if I would be able to walk in adulthood, let alone play sports or run. It is because of the care I received at Children's that I can. I am so honored to be able to run my third marathon fundraising for Boston Children's Hospital and support breakthrough research, family support services, vital care not covered by insurance through the hospital’s Every Child Fund, and so much more. Please consider supporting my fundraising and helping the children and families at Boston Children's and Beyond.
