At 6 months old, my nephew Tommy was diagnosed with Tuberous Sclerosis Complex, a rare genetic disease that causes benign tumors on major organs of the body. Tommy is now five years old and currently has tumors on his brain, heart, skin, and kidneys. There is currently no cure for the disease, so Tommy will always be in need of care. Boston Children’s Hospital has been nothing short of amazing and has provided the love and care Tommy and my family has needed throughout the years. Tommy is able to live a happy and healthy life because of Boston Children’s Hospital. We, as a family, will forever be grateful for Boston Children’s Hospital and will always try to find ways to give back.
Last year, my amazing sister-in-law Jenelle, signed up to do a walk and raise money for Boston Children's Hospital in support of my nephew Tommy. After she signed up, I promised to match her efforts and apply to be a part of Boston Children's Hospital marathon team and run the 2025 Boston Marathon. Fortunately, my application was accepted and I will be running the 2025 Boston Marathon in April.
As part of the Boston Children’s Hospital Team, I set a goal to raise a minimum $12,000. Every dollar raised will fund the very best medical care, breakthrough research, and vital support services for not only Tommy, but for other children and their families in need of care. Your gift will:
· help children from your town and across the world get a second chance at life;
· give kids battling the most complex diseases care they can't find anywhere else;
· fuel 3,000+ researchers working to develop new treatments and cures;
· support patient programs, like music and art therapy, to let kids be kids, even during long hospital stays;
· help patient families in crisis with urgent needs, such as food, clothing and housing;
· deliver the most compassionate, leading-edge care to every child who needs it.
I am truly grateful for everyone willing to support me on this journey to help raise money for the incredible patients and their families at Boston Children's Hospital.
