"Have A Heart" for BEADS OF MY HEART
January 21, 2018 marks the fourth anniversary of the successful heart transplant performed at Boston Children's Hospital for our granddaughter, Lilah. That day marked the culmination of a long journey through doctor's appointments, testing, hospital stays and CICU confinements. Although arduous, these trials were made bearable due to the efforts of the dedicated staff who provided diversion, warmth, a bedtime story and a loving touch - the Child Life Specialists at Boston Children's Hospital.
On January 18, 2018 Glenn and I are hosting a special event - a night of food and wine at Chris Cannon's famed Jockey Hollow Bar & Kitchen in Morristown, NJ - which will raise funds for the Beads of My Heart program sponsored by the Child Life Team. Boston Children's Hospital believes that each and every family that receives care for a heart defect is a "Heart Hero". That's why they've created Beads of My Heart, a program for patients who receive cardiac care at the hospital's Heart Center. Through this program, children and families commemorate their unique journey by earning beads when they reach significant milestones during treatment. Beads of My Heart is fully funded through outside donations and would not exist but for the generosity of benefactors of Boston Children's Hospital.
During a recent visit to the Hospital, Glenn and I were asked by the Child Life Team to spearhead fundraising for the Beads of My Heart program. We accepted wihout hesitation. So now we ask that you help us to maintain this wonderful outlet for kids who are patients at the Heart Center at Boston Children's Hospital and ensure that they can enjoy a well-deserved respite from their hospital lives. Donations will be accepted both before and after the "Have A Heart" event at Jockey Hollow Bar & Kitchen.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity! JoAnn & Glenn
