There are many worthy causes but the cause near and dear to our hearts is Moyamoya Disease Research. Moyamoya is a disease that affects 1 in 2 million people. It is a place like Boston Children's Hospital that has brilliant doctors and their teams dedicated to performing life saving surgery and researching causes and effects of rare diseases like Moyamoya. We benefited from this in 2007 when our son, Justin, was diagnosed with Moyamoya. He received life saving surgery at Boston Children's Hospital and today can lead a beautiful and healthly life, at age 25.
We never thought that we would need to utilize this amazing hospital "right in our own backyard" but when the time came we were surely grateful it was available to our son. Therefore, we fundraise to raise awareness for Moyamoya Disease and to fund research (conducted at BCH) around Moyamoya Disease.
