I'm participating in Yoga Reaches Out because I want to help Boston Children's Hospital continue its amazing work for kids and families. During this day-long yogathon, more than 1,000 yogis will come together for an inspirational day of yoga, music, and fundraising - all to help bring peace and healing to others. This year donations will benefit Boston Children's Wellness Program and Every Child Fund.
I have joined this event as a team member of Windsoul Studio Yoga and Healing in honor of Bennett Barclay. Bennett is a precious 21 mth old little boy who was diagnosed on Aug 6, 2018 with an inoperable brain tumor and immediately admitted to Boston Children's Hospital. Since that day, Bennett and his family have spent an incomprehensible 28 weeks between the hospital and Spaulding Rehabilitation; with 20 of those being at Children's where he has had chemotherapy to try and shrink the tumor and multiple surgeries and procedures to insert and fix a shunt that alleviates excess fluid build up in his brain.
When I saw a friend on Facebook post about this event with an invitation to join her team, I knew I wanted to take part and immediately thought of Bennett and his family. Bennett's mother Rachel and her sisters grew up in the same town and attended the same school as my sisters and I. I graduated with his Aunt Joslyn and have been following his courageous battle since the very first post on FB. Although I have never met Bennett, I am truly inspired by his courage and resilience, and like many, my heart just explodes with joy seeing pictures of him with those big blue eyes and adorable smile! He's a fighter!
Please consider donating to this wonderful cause. Every dollar raised supports families and patients, like Bennett, at Boston Children's Hospital.
