In the winter of 2000, as expecting first-time parents, we got some difficult news about our baby; he was diagnosed (in utero) with a congenital heart defect (CHD). Boston Children's Hospital is one of only a few hospitals in the world that could handle a case like this and we began our journey with the surgeons, doctors, nurses, and Child Life Services staff. David had three open heart surgeries before he was three, and our young family found Children's to be our second home.
After having spent considerable time in the hospital and on their services, we knew that wanted to find a way to help, and to support other families, like ours, that find their lives interrupted by lengthy hospital stays. For the past 20 years, we've been supporting Child Life Services at Boston Children's Hospital with an annual Toy Drive, and it's been an important part of our family's holiday traditions. Over the years we have donated more than $70,000 in toys and gifts to patients and families. Having the opportunity to impart the value of giving back to our three sons and to watch them grow up with this has been a powerful experience for us.
We won't be able to deliver toys in-person this year, but the patients at Boston Children's still need our help. We are using this platform to send monetary donations directly to the hospital.
Help us continue to support the patients and families of Boston Children's Hospital by donating through our Virtual Toy Drive. Your donation is tax deductible and can be matched by your employer.
We look forward to your continued support. Happiest of Holidays to you and yours -
