Why We Walk
Children’s Hospital has been part of Emmi’s story from the very beginning.
When she was just three months old, we began our journey with the hematology team after learning she was Coombs positive at birth. At six months old, we entered a new chapter — one that led us to her mild cerebral palsy diagnosis. From our very first neurology appointment, to the MRI where we learned she had experienced a perinatal stroke, Children’s has walked beside us every step of the way.
Because of Children’s, we are part of a renowned Cerebral Palsy Clinic that builds on the incredible momentum Emmi has made through early physical and occupational therapy. They have connected us with advocates who help navigate insurance and ensure she has the adaptive equipment she needs to fully participate alongside her peers. Their on-site bracing clinic will spare us months of waiting and ensure she receives equipment that fits her growth and her progress.
Children’s doesn’t just treat diagnoses. They give hope, they provide support, and they help build futures full of possibility.
We walk for our girl, Emmi, who continues to defy expectations. She crawled when we weren’t sure she would. Now she is working toward standing, far earlier than anticipated. She is determined, bright, and stronger than anyone knows.
We walk for the research, the advocacy, and the families who need the same support we’ve received. We walk and fundraise for the One Child Fund so Children’s can continue providing life-changing and life-saving care to every child who walks through their doors.
