We are back at it again walking to raise funds for Childrens Hospital Boston. Our Cruisin’ for Caroline Team has raised almost $20,000 over the past few years in our annual walk. Next Sunday, June 10th, we will walk along the Charles River in Boston as a family to say thank you for all they have done for us.
As many of you know, our family knows first hand how special Boston Childrens Hospital is. Without Boston Children's Hospital, our daughter Caroline would not be alive today.
Born two months early with a number of life threatening medical issues, Caroline struggled to stay alive for the first few years of her life. She has endured open heart surgery at 3 months old and just 6 lbs, was supported with oxygen for 3 years, fed by a feeding tube for the first 4 years of life and various other surgeries along the way. She was given a very short life expectancy when she was born and she recently celebrated her 15th year!
She continues to see close to 10 different doctors at Boston Childrens Hospital that manage her care. Can you imagine that? Caroline currently takes 27 pills a day just to stay alive. She is a remarkable young girl and her ability to get up and go to school with a smile every day when more often than not she does not feel well is unbelievable.
The idea that someone with Pulmonary Hypertension is going to walk 2 miles is miraculous but that is what she is! Every day is a day for us to celebrate her strength and courage and we are so thankful that a place like Childrens Hosptial Boston exists to help us make that happen.
Please consider a donation to support the Cruisin for Caroline Team as we say thank you for all they have done for our family!!
Thanks in advance-
