Brooklynn Faith Monto was born on October 6th, 2014 in Boston Massachusetts. She was born with a condition called Hypoplastic left heart syndrome which means that the left side of her heart is underdeveloped. Brooklynn's condition was detected during Jazmyn's pregnancy so Brooklynn was born in Boston so that she could be rushed to Boston Children's Hospital after birth to prepare for her first surgery.
Brooklynn will be 5 this year and has had 3 scheduled open heart surgeries and many additional procedures and an additional surgery to take care of complications that come from having an underdeveloped heart. She is doing great in preschool and loves to swim. She was granted a wish at the beginning of this year to spend a week in Florida staying at 'Give The Kids The World' village and going to Disney World.
There is a walk for Boston Children's Hospital on June 9th that we will be joining with our team "Brooklynn Strong". We started walking because we wanted to give a little back for all that the hospital has done for us - this will be our 5th year walking.
Brooklynn Strong represents the unbelievable resilience that Brooklynn shows in the face of this enormous challenge. No matter how many tubes or wires are coming out of her or how sore she is from her surgery – she always comes back with a bigger more contagious smile.
Any donations to our team are greatly appreciated – The hospital is an unbelievable place for patients and their families.
