I'm fundraising on behalf of Boston Children's Hospital's Children's Interstitial and Diffuse Lung Diseases Clinical Support Fund.
As you may know, my son Jack was born with a very rare lung disease known as children's interstitial and diffuse lung disease, or chILD. When Jack was an infant, he spent 7 weeks in the NICU and another 5 weeks during the winter of his first year at Boston Children's Hospital. The nurses and doctors at BCH took wonderful care of Jack, but I felt alone and scared because at the time, I did not know anyone else who had a child with the same lung disease as Jack. By chance, I was introduced to another mom over Facebook, and through her, I learned so much and found a network of other parents going through a similar battle. For the first time in 8 months, I had finally felt like someone understood what I was going through.
The Children's Interstitial and Diffuse Lung Disease Clinical Support fund was created by myself, 3 other "lung" moms, two doctors and other support staff from the Boston Children's Hospital pulmonary department. Our mission of the fund is to provide support and education to other families of kids with chILD. Our long term goal is to also raise enough funds to support research efforts focused on this rare disease.
I BELIEVE that every dollar we raise for Boston children's Hospital will have a ripple effect and could be THE dollar that changes everything for a future family in crisis.
Thank you for your continued support of Jack, my family and my lung family.
