I'm participating in the Eversource Walk for Boston Children’s Hospital on June 9.
Before I go into how your donation will be used to treat kids, find cures, and support families and hospital staff, I'd like to share why I walk. I have two close friends whose babies had life saving heart surgery at Children's. Many of my friends and acquaintances I've met through work, socializing, and kid life have received care from Boston Children's. Everyone knows someone who has been supported in some way by Children's - if you aren't sure, I challenge you to ask around. You will be amazed at how wide a reach this hospital has.
Then, Stella came into my life. I had already been walking for BCH for some years when I became a parent, and had always done so to do something small to support this amazing place. Since having Stells, she has been a patient at Children's for two separate concerns. I was able to see the incredible work BCH does everyday first hand.
When Stella was around a year old, there was concern that she was having seizures, and her doctor sent us right to Children's to get an assessment. We were lucky that they were quickly ruled out, but the level of care we (first time parents in a pandemic that were very scared) received is what really set BCH apart. They exceeded our expectations and eased our fears while legitimizing our feelings of concern.
BCH has always been special, but now that we are a BCH family, they are forever close to our hearts.
Every dollar I raise funds breakthrough research and vital care and support services for sick kids and their families. Your gift will:
- give children battling the most complex diseases treatments they can’t find anywhere else;
- help children in your town and across the world get a second chance;
- fuel 3,600+ researchers working to find cures;
- fund hospital activities like art and music programs to bring patients joy and hasten healing;
- help patient-families in crisis with urgent needs, including housing, food and clothing;
- bring crucial care to families through not one, but four, outpatient psychiatry clinics;
- and so much more.
Please support my fundraising and help the children and families at Boston Children’s and beyond.
