On June 9th I am participating in the Eversource Walk to benefit Boston Children's Hospital. This year, every dollar I raise will support the program I oversee - the hospital's Medical Legal Partnership Program. The BCH-MLP improves the health and well-being of patients and their families by ensuring all of their basic needs - like housing, healthcare, and education - are met.
Through this program, thousands of families have received free legal support to help them when they need it most. The only thing harder than caring for a sick child is doing so while facing a complex legal process like eviction. Last year alone, the BCH-MLP provided legal support to more than 100 families who were facing eviction while their child was being treated at the hospital. And, right now the BCH-MLP is preparing to assist an influx of families who will be kicked out of emergency shelter due to a new statewide policy starting June 1st.
