2018 Walk

Addy's Army

We are walking on behalf of Boston Children’s Hospital because we want to support the best doctors, hospital, and scientists in their work in saving children’s lives! Donations similar to this have already impacted the care our little girl has received and continues to receive from Boston Children’s Hospital.

Our daughter Addison at age 2 was rushed to Boston Children’s Hospital from our local hospital for a small cut that appeared infected and was spreading rapidly. Once in the ER in Boston she immediately began to receive top notch care from everyone, including the plastic surgeons, doctors, nurses and child life specialists. Our daughter was found to have SEPSIS. We would later learn this was caused from a Primary Immune Deficiency she was recently diagnosed with; Hypogammaglobulinemia. After a frightening night in the pediatric ICU, three nights following at the hospital, MANY MANY IV’s of antibiotics, and experiences that would change our family forever she was released in time to spend her 3rd Birthday with her little brother, mom, and dad at home! We are now treating and learning about her Primary Immune Deficiency but she is 100% back to herself being our strong, brave, and beautiful little girl!

If you do not know much about sepsis take the time to educate yourself, it may save your life or someone you love. Many hospitals around the country are not prepared to react to a child or adult who presents with symptoms of sepsis. Luckily the team that cared for our daughter at Boston Children’s Hospital were trained to identify and treat sepsis. Staff in the ER at Boston Children’s Hospital ALL wear a badge to identify symptoms of SEPSIS. The staff in Boston is trained to save lives because when someone presents with sepsis SECONDS count.

Please consider joining us on our walk or helping to support our fundraising efforts!
