Our family walks to show gratitude for the incredible doctors, nurses, and staff of Boston Children's Hospital, who provided life-saving care to our son and brother Alexander.
When he was eight days old, Alexander was diagnosed with multiple congenital heart defects. The ensuing months were long and scary, but from day one of working with the doctors at Children's, we knew Alexander was receiving the best care possible. At six months old, Alexander underwent successful open-heart surgery and was returned to us even more perfect than before. Today, he is THRIVING and expected to lead a completely normal, healthy life.
During our stay at Children's, we realized quickly that, despite our son’s challenges, he and we, were the lucky ones. We were the “one and done” family. After this one stint, we would be on our way home - for good. Many of the families we met weren't so lucky and for them, Children’s IS home.
In February, we celebrated Alexander’s first birthday – a milestone made possible by Boston Children’s Hospital. And while we walk out of thankfulness, we also walk so that Children’s can continue ensuring future birthdays for countless children, especially those whose struggle is much greater than Alexander’s. We walk for the families who, despite not being part of the one-and-done club, are still filled with the same hope that Children’s gave to us.
We hope that you will support our walk by making gift to our team, which will directly support the life-saving work of Boston Children’s Hospital.
