Complex Care Service serves children with multi-system, complex medical and/or developmental issues. Most of our patients need assistance ambulating and use technology to communicate.
Complex Care Service identifies comprehensive medical needs and monitors developmental progress of children with medical and developmental issues. We are a centralized point of contact in the hospital and provide continuity of care both outpatient and inpatient settings.
We communicate among specialists, primary care physicians, home care agencies and primary caregivers to support the medical and developmental needs of children in their communities.
The funds raised through the Boston Children’s Hospital Walk will help will be used towards:
1. Providing financial support for our monthly inpatient support group for parents of children enrolled in CCS and admitted to the inpatient units throughout the hospital. This gives the parents a chance to take a break from the bed side; get to know each other; share their experience of parenting a child with special needs and provide lunch.
2. Supporting financially families acquiring medical equipment and communication devices/ software for their child that is not covered by medical insurance.
3. Supporting families to provide therapies for their children that are not covered by medical insurance: therapeutic horse back riding; music therapy etc.
4. Acquiring materials for bereaved families necessary for bereavement follow-up.
Thank you for considering supporting our walk team and for considering joining us for the walk!
