At the age of 5, I was diagnosed with a craniopharyngioma - a rare, benign brain tumor. My parents rushed me from our home in Biddeford, Maine to Boston Children's Hospital where Dr. Michael Scott removed the grapefruit-sized mass during an 11-hour surgery. I spent a week in recovery and countless hours returning for check ups through age 18. Boston Children's medical professionals and staff were always so warm, friendly, and comforting in what was really a horrible time for myself and my parents.
This year, I'm participating in Yoga Reaches Out to give back to Boston Children's Hospital as they continue to do amazing work for children and their families. It seems fitting to join 1,200 yogis for a day-long yogathon filled with inspirational day of yoga, music, and fundraising to bring peace and healing to others.
This year donations will benefit Boston Children's Wellness Program and Every Child Fund. Join me in support of giving strength to families coping with a sick child.
