I hope one day Lida (left) will run the Boston Marathon with me, but for now we stick to 5Ks like this one in Lowell Ma.
Hi and thanks for stopping by! As you may have heard, I am running the Boston Marathon in April to celebrate the health of this lovely young lady, my incredible 24-year-old daughter Lida Rose.
Lida terrified the bejesus out of me when she was 12 by needing brain surgery to remove a tumor that was diagnosed after she had a grand mal seizure and turned blue in my arms.
That's a big sentence. It was quite a day.
BCH's Dr. Joseph Madsen performed her neurosurgery and kept me sane(ish) through it all.
I run to celebrate the 12 healthy years we have had since. All the milestones we have celebrated together that I thought were going to be stolen from me.
I also run for all the moms and daughters who are just starting their journeys. Some of them are my teammates, running for Children's while managing their kids' life-threatening illnesses.

Ironically, enough, just a few months before Lida's grand mal seizure, I ran the 2011 Boston Marathon on the Children’s Hospital team. Little did I know when I ran that race how important the hospital would become to me.
For the past four Boston Marathons, I have been cheering runners on and keeping them hydrated as a volunteer at the Mile 7 water stop in Framingham--but now it's time to get back in the race :)
