I’ll never forget my first Boston Marathon. I was in elementary school and my Dad was running the race with my Uncle Mike. I swear every shirt I saw on the TV was one of them, in the sea of thousands of runners. From that day on I knew I wanted to cross that finish line at Boylston Street.
In 2025, I’m going from spectating the world’s greatest marathon to achieving my dream. I'm so excited to be a part of the Miles for Miracles team to help the brave kids at Boston Children's Hospital, especially since it’s so close to my family’s heart.
My cousin Sadie (my Uncle Mike’s daughter) is a patient at Children’s and has been getting treatment there for over 20 years. There were times Sadie spent more than half of the school year in her hospital bed, which became a second home. She was in so much chronic pain at times that at family events we couldn’t hug her because it would trigger a nerve reaction.
I give so much credit to the amazing doctors who helped my family. After multiple ambulance rides and surgeries later, doctors at the Pain Clinic were able to diagnose Sadie with multiple nerve conditions (in some cases nerve endings had made their way into her digestive tract). It’s an ongoing prognosis, but Sadie is so much happier and living in much less pain! Doctors at the pain clinic fought so hard to get Sadie the treatment she needed and a diagnosis. My family is forever thankful to Children’s. Sadie is now enjoying a great life in college studying art therapy, and we are all so proud of her!
