A Ride for the Whole Family
Families are welcome (and encouraged!) to participate in the Downtown Course as Hope Riders. The course is safe, with few hills, and is approximately 12.5 miles in length. There are no rest/water stops along the Downtown Course. Ride Marshals and support vehicles, as well as city and state police, will be present along the route to assist riders as needed. Bibs will be color coded to differentiate the rides.
Age requirements for cyclists under 18 are below. Riders of all ages will enjoy cruising through Boston’s exciting neighborhoods, including a car-free Storrow Drive all while helping kids at Boston Children’s Hospital.
Cyclists must be 16 years or older to register for the Emerald Necklace Route. Children under 16 may participate only if riding with an adult on a tandem, trail-a-bike, bike seat, or trailer.
Children 8-17 may ride the Downtown Route for free, but must be accompanied by a registered adult rider. Children under 8 can also participate free of cost, but must ride with an adult on a tandem, trail-a-bike, bike seat, or trailer.
All family members may register through the Boston Children’s Hospital Hope Rider website. Children can receive access to a fundraising page and fundraising center upon registering, but are not required to fundraise. Fundraising incentives are offered to riders 8 years and older.
