I am riding in the Boston Children's Hospital Hub on Wheels in September to raise money for my third year in a row for pediatric cancer research/treatment. With the generous donations I received last year, I was able to contribute $1,000 to this cause which unfortunately affected myself and my family personally. I am hoping to raise a minimum of $1,000 again this year.
Unfortunately every two minutes a new child is diagnosed with cancer, and only 4% of federal government cancer research funding is dedicated to study strictly pediatric cancers. Needless to say, a shift in funding is crucial to finding a cure.
I ride for Zachary, and for all of the other children out there who spend more time in a hospital room than in school, who see doctors and nurses as much as their own family, and for those who forget what it's like to feel "normal", and to just be a kid.
