Three years ago, just before her first birthday, my little cousin Emma Rose was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Three years ago, but feels like yesterday we received the news.. I couldn’t comprehend how the happiest little girl could be going through something so terrible. Emma spent most of her first year of life in the hospital. She met some of her first friends and took some of her first steps at Boston Children’s Hospital. Through ups and downs Emma was able to keep on smiling and keep on dancing. Three years later and Emma is CANCER FREE and just recently completed her last round of treatment. She is the strongest little girl I know. If she can crush cancer with the style and grace as she did, I can run 26 miles and fundraise for a cause so close to my families hearts. I run for Emma and her family because everyone deserves to receive the same amazing care she received at Boston Children’s Hospital.
Every dollar I raise funds breakthrough research, family supports, and vital services not covered by insurance through the hospital’s Every Child Fund. Your gift will:
- give children battling the most complex diseases treatments they can’t find anywhere else;
- help children in your town and those across the world get a second chance;
- fuel 3,000+ researchers working to find cures;
- help patient-families in crisis with urgent needs, including housing, food and clothing;
- bring crucial care to families through not 1, but 4 outpatient psychiatry clinics;
- and so much more.
Please support my fundraising—and the children and families at Boston Children’s and beyond.
