Our family will be walking in the 2019 Eversource Walk for Boston Children's Hospital this upcoming Sunday. We hope you can support our efforts by making a donation.
When our son Chappie was not even 12 hours old, Ernie and I were sighing in relief because we were told Boston Children's Hospital had an open bed in their NICU, and Chappie would be transferred. There was comfort in knowing that the best people would be looking at him. It brought hope.
I never knew babies could have a stroke, even before they are born. However, pediatric stroke effects 1-2,000 births each year. Stroke is as common as brain tumors in the pediatric popularion.
We are lucky that Chappie was diagnosed when he was five days old so he could start therapy immediately. We are even luckier to have a team made up of neurologists, occupational therapists, and physical therapists at Children's. Where most Moms have a #MomSquad, we have a #CheerSquad at Boston Children's. And, this #CheerSquad has become part of our family.
We continue to be so grateful to Boston Children's Hospital. Please support our family and the other families touched by Boston Children's Hospital by making a donation.
