I have joined the Miles for Miracles team to help all the brave kids at Boston Children's Hospital. You may already know that my daughter Lily was born with Transposition of the Great Arteries, a rare, life threatening, congenital heart defect. Two days after birth Lily underwent open heart surgery at Boston Children’s. Without surgery Lily would not have survived. After the surgery Lily spent a week in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, one of the largest and most sophisticated intensive care units in the world solely dedicated to cardiac care. It was a traumatic time in our lives, but our worries were allayed by the expertise, knowledge and compassion exhibited by all the doctors and nurses involved in Lily’s treatment.
Lily remains a patient at Boston Children’s. For the last twenty-one years she has been cared for by her favorite doctor, Andrew Powell, who never fails to amaze us with his vast wisdom, undying patience, calm demeanor, and subtle humor. Lily is my “patient partner” and hopefully I will make it up heart-break hill to have a sip of her beer as she cheers on the runners with the rest of the Boston College student body.
There is no question that Boston Children’s Hospital saved my daughter’s life. Every dollar I raise funds the absolute best medical care, breakthrough research and leading-edge care so that Boston Children’s Hospital can save many children’s lives.
Please consider supporting my fundraising effort. Thank you!
