It should not be surprising that Kinsley inspired my passion for fitness and building strength. While her muscles were weak, she was the strongest person I've ever known. And I never wanted a day to come that I couldn't support her in any way she needed- including being able to carry her from one room to another. In April of 2018, we announced the passing of our daughter Kinsley Rose Redinbo with heavy hearts.
Since then, every mile I have run has been for her and will continue to be. I like to think that had her muscles worked the way they should have; she'd share this passion with me. So while I'm running these miles by myself, I carry the weight of her heart, knowing she's with me every step of the way. In 2019 I ran my first full marathon in her memory, followed by a second in 2022- both for the New York City Marathon
This year I'm proud to be selected for the first time as a Miles for Miracles team member to help the brave kids at Boston Children's Hospital during the Boston Marathon on April 15, 2024.
I have committed to supporting Nemaline Myopathy (NM) research at the Beggs Laboratory located in the Boston Children’s Hospital with a goal of $15,000. The efforts of Dr. Beggs hold great promise in advancing research and finding effective treatments for Nemaline Myopathy, offering hope to affected families worldwide.
Additionally, my participation will be crucial in continuing my support of A Foundation Building Strength (AFBS) in memory of my daughter, Kinsley Rose. AFBS currently funds the Beggs Lab at Boston Children's, where they hold the largest data and specimen bank for NM patients and use this to discover new NM genes, and support ongoing NM research projects. AFBS is currently growing the biobank program at Beggs Lab leading to an increased need for funding.
I appreciate your support and know that together we can make a substantial impact on the future of research dedicated to Nemaline Myopathy!
