I've joined the Miles for Miracles team to help the courageous young patients at Boston Children's Hospital, and let me tell you why.
My first experience with Boston Children's Hospital came roughly ten years ago when I went to visit my newborn nephew, Colin, in the NICU on a cold, early spring night. He was born with an extremely rare, life-threatening muscular disease and would go on to spend the first 100 days of his life in the NICU. Colin soon became a patient of Boston Children's CAPE program which helps provide him extraordinary, highly specialized care. He has endured more in his young life than most adults can imagine. He is now a 4th grader whose determination, spirit, and sense of humor never cease to amaze those around him. Thanks to the care and dedication of his family and the nurses, specialists, and doctors at Boston Children’s Hospital, Colin continues to progress.
We all have stories about how pediatric centers like Boston Children's Hospital have treated someone, saved a life, performed a miracle. My own daughter was a patient there for a benign tumor in her eye. My cousin's son was treated there too. We even have friends who live in New Jersey who travel regularly to BCH to receive specialized care for their son.
I'm running the Boston Marathon for them. For my nephew and for every other child who has been cared for by Boston Children's Hospital. This is my opportunity to give back, I intend to make the most of it, and I hope you will help me reach my goal.
Every dollar I raise funds the very best medical care, breakthrough research and vital support services for sick kids and their families. Your gift will:
- help children from your town and across the world get a second chance at life;
- give kids battling the most complex diseases care they can't find anywhere else;
- fuel 3,000+ researchers working to develop new treatments and cures;
- support patient programs, like music and art therapy, to let kids be kids, even during long hospital stays;
- help patient families in crisis with urgent needs, such as food, clothing and housing;
- deliver the most compassionate, leading-edge care to every child who needs it.
Please support my fundraising to help the brave, resilient kids, like my nephew Colin and so many others, at Boston Children's Hospital.
Thank you.
