David and I invite you to join us in supporting an important effort to help kids with epilepsy.  We have partnered with Dr. Tobias Loddenkemper (Director, Clinical Epilepsy Research, Boston Children’s, and Associate Professor of Neurology, Harvard Medical School) to launch a clinical research study to test the effectiveness of a new technology designed to precisely measure seizure activity in pediatric patients with epilepsy.

The wireless device can be worn discreetly by patients 24 hours per day while they go about their daily routines, and will vastly improve the critical data needed to guide and enhance treatment.  Perhaps even more importantly, it will reduce the financial and emotional burden on families and improve the quality of life for children living with epilepsy. Long term monitoring of seizure activity is an important and often necessary tool for doctors. The traditional methodology for capturing this data involves extended hospital stays with video and EEG monitoring. This research provides hope for the utilization of wireless technology and non-invasive monitoring of and for the advancement of treatment options for children with seizure disorders.

Together, we will help Dr. Loddenkemper and his team develop innovative solutions to stop seizures and give children the chance to live full, healthy lives. No one knows how precious that is more than my family. Thank you for considering a gift of any amount to help us reach at least $100,000 this year to help Dr. Loddenkemper’s research.

I understand a donation to a specific research initiative is not something that appeals to everyone. The entire community of Boston Children’s is focused on providing the best possible care to every child who walks through their doors.

I hope you will consider a general donation to Boston Children’s. Boston Children’s is not just our local children’s hospital; it is the world’s largest pediatric research enterprise within the nation’s #1 children’s hospital.   Because Boston Children’s leads the way in both clinical excellence and research, the world-class physician-scientists at Boston Children’s are uniquely positioned to solve the most difficult challenges in pediatric medicine. You may use the link below for general donations.
