Julian turned three years old in May, 2014

Julian Calabró was born to Gaby Palacios and Andrés Calabró when they were graduate students at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. Gaby and Andrés subsequently returned to their native country, Argentina. Juli was a beautiful and happy boy until at age three he was diagnosed with a rare childhood form of myeloproliferation syndrome/myelodysplasia (MDS). Despite extensive medical efforts to slow and treat the progression of the disease, Julian died on September 21, 2014, while waiting for a bone marrow transplant.

At Gaby and Andrés' suggestion, friends who wish to honor Julian's memory can support research about the causes and treatment of pediatric MDS by contributing to the Pediatric Myelodysplastic Syndrome and Bone Marrow Failure Registry, centered at Boston Children's Hospital. Please see their web page for more information: http://www.pedimds.org
