Tabitha Feldberg Pediatric Heart Valve Research Fund
A fund dedicated to the loving memory of Tabitha Isobel Feldberg (August 29, 1999 - April 15, 2013)
Tabitha was a brave girl who recovered from two heart surgeries when she was 11 years old, the second surgery being that of an bioprosthetic aortic valve replacement. One night when she was 13 yerars old Tabitha's heart stopped in her sleep. Tabitha's sudden death shocked both her family and caregivers at Bostons Children's Hospital. Later investigations revealed that Tabitha's bioprosthetic valve had exhibited acceerated degenration resulting in bioprosthetic aortic stenosis. These tragic circumstances prompted enhanced surveillance of other children and young adults with bioprosthetic valves resulting in further evidence of accelerated degeneration.
Donations made to the Tabitha Feldberg Pediatric Heart Valve Research Fund in honor of Tabitha Feldberg will support ongoig research into improving pediatric heart valves. Thank you for honoring Tabitha’s memory and supporting this research.
