Olive's Day
On May 12th, 2015 our sweet baby girl Olive Rosemary Teipel passed away in her sleep due to SIDS. In the aftermath of losing Olive to this terrible unknown, we were determined to help find a why, partner with those working to find a cure and prevent further loss and heartache. We found the Robert's Program at Boston Children's Hospital, the pediatric Hospital of Harvard Medical School.
While May 12th has become Olive's Day, for us it's a day of pain as we continue to grieve the loss of Olive, but it also is a day of hope. Even though she was small she is mighty in her legacy and impact, together we can unite to finding a why, and finding a cure.
About Roberts Program
Robert’s Program is a clinical service offered to families who have lost a child suddenly and unexpectedly, without apparent cause. The program's efforts help a family understand the reasons for their child’s death, while supporting them through a very difficult time. An interdisciplinary research team uses the most current medical knowledge and methods to work to find answers for bereaved families while leading the research community in new discoveries in genetics, serotonin, epileptology and other pathologies thought to be related to SUDP.
The program explores on Sudden Unexpected Death in Pediatrics (SUDP), which encompasses Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and Sudden Unexpected Death in Childhood (SUDC).
Research mission
To perform state-of-the-art research into sudden unexpected death in pediatrics to understand fatal underlying vulnerabilities in children and prevent them.
