SIDS Research in Nate’s Memory

Nathaniel Weilin Ho was born on December 5, 2018. Nate was a sweet and happy little boy who loved being lifted high into the air like a superbaby and cradled in the crook of dad’s arm. He loved to nurse, smile, and play, and he had the most infectious laugh. He was healthy. He was perfect. And he is loved beyond words.
Nate died suddenly at daycare when he was five and a half months old. He took his usual morning nap on his back in his crib and never woke up. Having no answers or explanation as to why our perfectly healthy son died compounded the devastation our family felt in the wake of Nate’s death.
We learned about the Robert’s Program at Boston Children's Hospital through a child loss support group. Headed by Drs. Richard Goldstein and Hannah Kinney, the Robert's Program has a singular research aim: to discover the causes of sudden and unexpected death in children. Their hypothesis is that unexplained death in childhood -- which occurs in approximately 3,500 babies under the age of one in the US each year -- is caused by an underlying disease that has yet to be diagnosed. We have enrolled Nate in the Roberts Program, contributing his medical records, DNA, and tissue for research in the hope that one day, no family will have to live this waking nightmare.
We have created this page to allow family and friends to make a direct donation to the Roberts Program if they choose to do so. Please consider honoring Nate by making a contribution to research regarding sudden and unexpected death in children.
